The Beginning

I started my journey, like many other adventurers, in a dungeon. It all started as a game from an old man at a town fair, but turned into how I got the dubbed The Quarterling. It was like any other setup: I, a young halfling, and four other adventurers, a  elf ranger,  human necromancer, a orc bard, and a human wizard, volunteered. Well, the old man pushed me. The others volunteered. We enter a box with no windows. It was just empty and tight for 5 of us to be in there. We stood in silence for a minute until the box started filling with smoke. It hit me first because I was the smallest of the group. I coughed a little an they all looked down, The orc said excuse me. and they all laughed until the smoke reached them. we all coughed looking from one another checking to see who would open the door first. It was clear we all thought it was apart of the game.  I waited until I couldn't take it anymore.

We clamor out of the box. Smoke flowing out in dark clouds behind us. We all choked and were gasping for air. We got hold of ourselves and looked around. The area is bare. No one was there. No people, no old man, no fair. We start walking until we find a woman sitting in the middle of the field. She beckoned us to come near, but she spoke no words. She only had a bowl in front, begging for an offering. We each paid into the bowl, and that is when everything changed. Instantly, three doors appeared in front of us, and we had a choice: red, green, or blue. Now, I must admit I wasn't as out spoken then as I am now. I wanted to go through the blue door, but they wanted green. Let's just say we probably should have chosen blue. We all might have survived.
